Sphere Localization
In order to localize, GPS has been used to share exact positions. This is effective for many cases, but creates issues in terms of privacy, especially since the extreme precision of GPS is often not even required.
Cryptographic Places
Section titled “Cryptographic Places”Using cryptographic protocols, it is possible to dedicate “places” for activities and localized organization. These places can have different functions depending on their purpose and the infrastructure available.
They can be managed:
- Automatically by protocol rules
- Manually by a designated person
- Democratically by an entire group, using a Governance Engine at scale
Privacy-Preserving Location
Section titled “Privacy-Preserving Location”Rather than sharing exact coordinates, users can prove membership in a geographic zone without revealing their precise location, enabling:
- Local community discovery and organization
- Location-based services without surveillance
- Regional governance and decision-making
