Web3 Social Media
A reimagining of social media where storage and distribution of user information is fully controlled by the user.
Core Principles
Section titled “Core Principles”- A user can provide their own data in their own node or trust a selection of nodes with their data
- A user can decide who gets to see which parts of their profile
- This goes beyond the classic “private”/“public” distinction
Fine-Grained Sharing
Section titled “Fine-Grained Sharing”You could decide on certain requirements for sharing your data, such as:
- “Has to be friend of a friend”
- “Must be a member of the same Sphere”
- “Must have a minimum trust score” (via Social Tokens)
Relation to Current Social Media
Section titled “Relation to Current Social Media”Current platforms prioritize media consumption and engagement over genuine social networking. Web3 Social Media shifts the focus back to networking between people rather than media, with the user in control of their data and attention.
